Eftim FutekovPhotographer

I'm Eftim Futekov – a photographer from Panagyurishte, a small town tucked into the Sredna Gora mountains.

I'm a student at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", and photography is how I make sense of the places I pass through. In Sofia that means neoclassical façades, golden church domes, yellow trams and the market streets around the Central Baths. In Plovdiv it means the old town after dark, when the lamps come on over the cobblestones. And at home it means the hills – golden at the end of a summer day, with horses and storks for company.

Most of my recent work is made with a Fujifilm X100VI: one fixed lens, no zoom, and the habit of walking closer instead. I publish my photographs on Pexels so anyone can use them for free – so far they've been viewed more than 640,000 times.

Why
Small enough to carry everywhere, quiet enough to go unnoticed on the street, and the film simulations make the colours feel like memory.
